Some of the latest models are showing that we will have a hurricane in the Atlantic Basin within a few days. The above model is the GFDL and does a decent job as a whole. The legend on the right side indicates that we could have a Cat 2 hurricane early next week moving west.
The GFS model (above) also shows this feature. It's the green bullseye heading through the Caribbean. The big orange blob is a big ridge that should steer this tropical system westward into the Gulf. This needs to be watched closely to see if it affects our weather. If it did, it would still be SEVERAL days away (7-10).

I always hear that a 1" rainfall is worth millions of $$$ here in Region 8. If that's the case, we "may" see a nice financial treat within the next few days. The remnants of Bonnie coupled with a front moving in from the north will provide us with better rain chances. We can never guarentee anything, but the latest NAM computer model shows a 1" rainfall for a a good chunk of Region 8.

Here's the deal... If rain really helps a farmer out, then they should dance in the rain. If it rains on your farm, I want some pictures of happy people! Send them to me at ryan@kait8.com and I'll show them on TV...

I'm watching a complex of storms to the north and I'm starting to wonder if they will make it to parts of Region 8. They are heading in this direction, but they should weaken due to the environment they are entering. Regardless, they need to be watched. Even if we do not get rain from this complex, it appears we will get clouds. That may keep our afternoon high temperatures down a little. Here's a satellite image from 9:00 AM:
